Vision and Values
We have close to 240 wonderful children at Crowcroft Park. They are happy, chatty and enthusiastic – and each one is unique, special and valued. We serve a diverse and ever-changing community, which brings a welcome richness to daily school life. Our children amaze and astound us continually, providing frequent joyful moments as they take new learning, new friendships, new languages - and even new countries in their stride. We feel proud and privileged to educate the children of Longsight.
INCLUSION: I AM SPECIAL, I AM ME!
At Crowcroft Park we recognise that children do not all have equal starts in life, but that it is our moral duty to ensure that they all have equal opportunities and aspirations. We do not lower our expectations, but instead increase support and build independence, to ensure that ALL children experience the joy of success often.
LANGUAGE & LITERATURE
A confident command of spoken and written English sets children up for a successful future – in education and employment. Reading fluently, with high levels of comprehension, opens doors and provides joy. The skills and knowledge involved in developing language expertise are challenging for all children, but especially so for those with English as an Additional Language. We therefore teach all aspects of language and communication robustly through quality first teaching and targeted intervention. We have invested heavily in training, development and inspiring texts to make this possible.
TOWN VS. COUNTRY
Crowcroft Park is a city school, located close to central Manchester - an exciting and vibrant place that offers a wealth of experiences for our children – both now and in their future. We aim to exploit these opportunities through relevant trips and visits, whilst also preparing our children to live safely in a large city.
Our school is named for the park that it overlooks. Spending time in green spaces or bringing nature into everyday life can benefit both mental and physical wellbeing. We make the most of all opportunities to go out into nature and to bring it into our classrooms. Our environments are as natural, neutral and soothing as possible.
ART, DESIGN, CREATIVITY & ASTHETICS
We are passionate about art and design at Crowcroft Park and think that taking the time to make things beautiful as well as functional is important. We are currently developing and investing in our Art, Design and Music curriculum and our children are making fantastic progress. Creativity – the use of imaginative or original ideas to produce something – makes us feel energised and positive. Creativity is an essential and transferrable skill, which we believe should be embedded across all areas of the curriculum.
EXCELLENCE & EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY AS STANDARD
If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing exceptionally well. At Crowcroft Park we are aspirational for ourselves and our children; we have high expectations; and settle for nothing less. We strive to develop and adhere to a culture of excellence.
“We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.”
Aristotle
CONTINUOUS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
Schools are dynamic places; characterised by constant change, learning and progress. Leaders at Crowcroft Park seek to embed and strengthen all that is good, and communicate effectively to take the whole school family with them - willingly and enthusiastically - on the improvement journey.
Educational research is now plentiful and accessible. Decisions about pedagogy and curriculum at Crowcroft Park are evidence-based (internal or external). School leaders use research effectively and develop an impact-led culture in which staff, children, governors and families understand why we do things the way that we do.
We can all learn from others and we can all support others – this is our ethos. At Crowcroft Park, we aim to develop a generous culture in which we willingly and enthusiastically share all that we do well, and openly ask for the input of those who do things better. We value our community and see ourselves as a part of it. Children need their families around them in order to thrive – parents and school are partners in education.
